Definition of correspondence....
Communication through exchange of letters is known as correspondance.it is reffered to the written form of communication between two parties wheather involved in a business or in government offices or at individual level.it plays important role in our lives.correspondence is way by which we exchange our ideas,thoughts and other information.the defination of correspondence has expanded by the inclusion of digital media like- text messeges,social plateforms, etc.
clssification of correspondence:-
on the basis of areas it is divided into three types.
1-Personal
2-Business
Personal- communication to friends or our relatives through letters is known as personal correspondenc.
Business- any correspondence done by business firm and associated to business related topic is known as business correspondence.
Official- any correspondence which is written by a government officer is known as official correspondence.
Here our focus will be on Business correspondence-
Business correspondence is a written communication between two parties related to a business.Businessman writes and recives letter in his day-to-day transactions which is called business correspondnce.

Parts of business letters:-
The essential parts of a business letter are as follows:
- Heading
- Date
- Reference
- Inside address
- subject
- Salutation
- Body of letter
- Complimentry close
- Signature
- Enclosures
- Copy circulation
- Post script
2-Date:- it is written in right side corner after the heading.
3-Reference:- it is write in left hand corner.it contain letter number.
4-Inside address:- it is writen in left hand side afer the reference.it contains the name and address of receiver.
5-subject:- The statement of matter is write in this.
6-Salutation:- it placed after the inside address as sir/madam etc.
7-Body of letter:- Here,the subject matter is written in detailed form.
8-Complimentary close:- it is the ending of any letter as yours faithfully etc.
9-Signature:- it placed below the complimentary close.
10-Enclosures:- In this, the listed document details is given.
11-Copy circulation:- it is required when copies of letter is sent.
12-Post script:- it contains those, which is not written in body of letter as terms and conditions,warranty details etc.
